Weider Kettle Bells: Retro Fitness with Style
For an old school style of exercise made new again, Weider Kettle Bells are a unique and challenging way to tone and condition your entire body, including your cardiovascular system. The off-balance characteristic of lifting and swinging a kettle bell gives you an effective workout that incorporates a full Range of Motion in dynamic movements.
The Weights
Weider Kettle Bells come in fixed and adjustable weights. The fixed sizes come in four weights: 5 lbs, 10 lbs, 15 lbs, and 20 lbs. They feature easy grip handles and are color coded (yellow, red, green, blue) for easy identification.
Note: They have the same dimensions so you can transfer your lifting skills to another weight without adjusting technique. This is important in kettle bell workouts.
The other option is a set of “7 in 1” adjustable weights that consist of removable plates and a handle. You simply pull the lock and twist to remove or add weights. There are two sets with a max weight of either 20 lbs or 40 lbs:
The Buzz
The fixed weight Weider Kettle Bells are fully Neoprene dipped to protect the cast iron ball. That may not seem like an important point, but unprotected kettle bells can chip if they are dropped and mishandled. Also, they feel and look like traditional kettlebells. The only downside of Weider’s fixed weights is that the max is a 20 lb weight. Most heavy lifters will need a 53 lb weight, which is the Russian standard. As for the adjustable sets, they are not recommended; they are too light, and are oddly shaped because of the stacking plates.

The fixed weight kettle bell is a better option than the adjustable weights since most men won’t use a light 5 or 10 lb weight. Also, you will eventually want to have two bells of the same weight to work in tandem, so buying the adjustable Weider kettlebell set means spending extra money on lighter weights you won’t use.
Who would have thought that swinging around a cannonball for just 15 minutes could be such a killer workout? Very few users who try kettlebells go back to dumbbells as the sole means of free weights — that’s how fun and addictive these things are. We’ve come across a couple of people who have failed to get proper training and injured themselves; but that is a situation that is avoidable if you take the time to watch Weider’s DVD and see how a proper training session is done.
Our Take
The fixed weight kettlebell is preferred over any adjustable models. The handle is wide and padded, and the bell is balanced and feels good in the hands. The shipping charges are reasonable too, which makes the fixed weight Weider Kettle Bells a Good Buy. The adjustable weights, however, are not.
