The Buzz
The Proform Ab Glider is designed to help you train your abdominal muscles using two effective exercises: rotation and crunch. Together, these two directions provide CrossMotion Ab Training that targets your abs and obliques. According to their studies, this ProForm machine helps to recruit up to 44% more muscles and burns twice as many calories per minutes as compared to other abdominal equipment. The Ab Glider features solid, all-steel construction on the 57-lb frame and a cushioned seat.
The reviews would be a lot more encouraging if users had received the same product that is advertised in the picture on the box, and what the models use in the DVDs and the advertising video at ProForm’s website. However, users are complaining that the handlebars are about a foot shorter than in the videos. At that length, they are too short for anyone over 5’5” who will not be able to get the full stretch. Even worse, reviewers say that the shorter bars are hurting their backs. There seems to be some quality control issues too as some of the ab gliders are arriving with defective workmanship
Our Take
The abs are the most difficult set of muscles to isolate and train properly so any machine that can do this work effectively would be welcome in most home gyms. We can see this ab exerciser design can be a winner for hitting the upper body effectively while exercising just minutes a day, so we hope Proform corrects the flaws (like making the arm lengths adjustable for taller users) and brings this one back. If you can’t wait, the ProForm Ab Glider is $141 and comes with a 30-day trial period for a full refund.
