Precor Home Gyms – Health Club Quality Equipment

Precor Home Gym Reviews
Weightlifting with Precor home gyms is perhaps something you haven’t considered before. You may have seen their outstanding ellipticals and treadmills at your local health club, so you shouldn’t be surprised that you can also buy Precor strength training systems for residential use.
Precor is part of the Amer Sports family, which consists of internationally recognized brands such as Wilson, Atomic, Suunto, Precor, Mavic and Salomon. While the company’s cardio equipment is well known and highly praised, the strength training home gym systems get mixed reviews.
High Performance Strength Training Systems
Precor offers about six home gyms and functional strength trainers ranging in price from $2,000 to about $5,500. They also have one entry-level gym priced at around $1,500 with a 150-lb weight stack. All their systems provide smooth, quiet operation with free-floating guide rods and sound-absorbing rubber ends so there’s no noisy slamming of metal plates at the end of each press.

The adjustable benches and seats allow you to work out in ergonomically correct body positions to help facilitate proper form during strength training workouts. You can do all the standard exercises such as pull downs, bench press, press downs, cable curls, cable rows, leg extensions, and more.
Precor’s multi-purpose home gyms are very large, and will take up a lot of room in your home training room -- even with or without an optional leg press. They come in either single or multi-station designs.
Bowflex Home Gyms - Versatile and Affordable
You’ll also find a Functional Trainer in the line-up of Precor home gyms. This strength training system comes with two pulleys, high and low, which are adjustable up to 30 starting positions. It comes with dual independent weight stacks, an adjustable bench, and accessories (straight bar, curl bar, and additional foot/ankle strap).
Big Gains Come at a Big Price
The downside of Precor systems is the expensive price tag. The equipment is outstanding but you can find similar quality -- as well as better designs with smaller footprints -- for half the cost. One other drawback is the systems cannot be upgraded beyond 258-lbs of max resistance, which many men will find insufficient. Whether you are a man looking to bulk up, or a woman wanting to slim down, Precor home gyms provide health club quality performance, but you have to get over the sticker shock when comparing them to other strength training equipment we review on this site.
