The Powertec Leverage System Home Gym: Train Heavy With Confidence
The Powertec Leverage System home gym is essentially a free weight machine but it has a safety advantage similar to that of a Smith cage. Comparable in quality to extremely high-end systems, this affordable gym has an adjustable lever arm which replaces the weighted barbell to allow you a non-spotter weight-training environment.
The Gym
The Powertec Leverage System home gym offers 20 core exercises and when you add in the variations, you can actually do around 100 exercises. The core group includes standing squats, bench press, rows, dead lifts, lat pull downs, pull-ups, curls (including pec curl but not butterfly), extensions, and all leg exercises. The frame is available in your choice of Red, Gun Metal Gray, or Yellow.
The Powertec leverage system includes:
- Press Arm, Lat machine, Leg lift, Squat bar
- High and Low Cable stations
- Leg Extension/Curl
- Padded bench (swivels out of the way for power lifts)
- Dimensions: 101"L x 56"W x 82"H
- Unit Weight — 290 lbs
- Warranty — Lifetime frame; 2 years on parts (bearings, spring pins), 1 year on pads, grips
- Accessories — short straight bar, lat pull-down bar,
stirrup handle, exercise poster.
- Weight load capacities: Press station -500 lbs, Squat bar – 500 lbs
Lat machine - 400 lbs, Leg Lift – 250 lbs.
Optional arm curl machine – 200 lbs.
Note: The photo shows the leverage multi-gym system with Olympic weight plates. These are not included with the gym; you must buy them separately. A set of 250-lbs of iron plates will cost around $490 — or around $2/lb to purchase individually in sizes of 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5, 25, and 50 lb plates. Since the gym and plates will last a lifetime, the resale value of Powertec home gyms holds up very well.
Recommended accessories: Personalize your gym with an EZ curl bar ($25), a triceps rope ($20), and a mat ($99) to protect your floor.

The Buzz
Trainers, experts, muscle heads, gym rats -- they all praise the superb design and superior quality of the Powertec Leverage System home gym. These units are built on solid frames of 3" heavy gauge tubular steel, plus they offer super density foam padding in the seat. The unit comes with three cable attachments with top quality bearings for the smoothest pulling motion you’ve ever experienced. Best of all, the gym is designed for heavy weights; if you can load it, this system can hold it.
It’s impossible to find a negative review on the Powertec leverage multi-gym, that’s how much owners are impressed with these machines. This is a system for people who love to spend time in their home gym getting stronger, but we would hope that even if you’re more of a casual weekend-type lifter that you’ll consider investing in one. You might even get inspired to take up the sport more seriously to improve your health and lifestyle.
Our Take
At $949, this excellent home gym should put any notion of wanting a Smith machine right out of your head. Safety is a huge issue when you are lifting big and you know about what can go wrong if you get completely fatigued in the middle of a lift. With a Powertec leverage system, you don’t need a spotter and you’ll never need to worry about dropping a weighted bar on your neck. We highly recommend the Powertec Leverage System home gym and feel it will duplicate any club-quality workout you can load on it.
