The Buzz
The Powerline PCCO90X Cable Crossover is a solid piece of gym equipment that features a professional carriage system that travels on nylon bushings with four large high resin pulleys with sealed ball bearings that swivel smoothly on each side of the frame.
Reviewers are surprised and pleased by the quality of this unit. The specs on the PCCO90X cable crossover don’t include a rating for how much weight the system can handle, but users have reported stacking up to 240 pounds on one side and the unit is solid as a rock. Keep in mind that if you have Olympic plates, you will need to buy an adapter.
The most frequent complaint is that no assembly instructions are included in the box and it is a challenge to put the Powerline Cable Crossover together. All you get is a parts list and a labeled illustration of the assembled unit. Unfortunately, this lack of information happens with all Powerline home gyms, which is why they tend to get more critical reviews than they should.
Another point to consider is that the cables, cams, and pulleys are covered by a one-year warranty only. If you want piece of mind, spend a few dollars more and get a Body Solid unit with lifetime coverage on everything.
Our Take
The pulleys start at a low or high position but more versatile models have a dozen start points at different heights. Alas, there is no built-in chin-up bar either. As for the weights, if you own a set of plates already, this is a good crossover machine since you won’t be buying a unit that comes with duplicate weight stacks. The Powerline PCCO90X Cable Crossover sells for $300 on Amazon.com, which is a good deal if you have no problem with the items mentioned above.
