The Buzz
The Powerline P2X is easy to use and has a comfortable pulley motion. It has a 160-lb adjustable weight stack, high, mid and low pulleys, traditional press arms, and a leg developer for extensions and curls. You can also opt to add functional training arms for free-range movements. Overall, the P2X home gym has some decent construction but that angled-forward shoulder press position is weird, and we don’t like wrapping a cable around our arms to do pec flyes.
Read the fine print before you buy. While parent company Body Solid offers a Lifetime Warranty on everything on its home gyms – cables, pulleys, parts, pads, and every nut and bolt on the unit – the Powerline Warranty on the P2X multi home gym is 10 years on the frame and just one year on parts. Additionally, assembly is a two-person job that requires several hours and a number of tools. This is odd since Powerline sells another model, the BSG10x that comes 90% pre-assembled with the same workout features, and sells for $100 less than the P2X.
Our Take
The price of the Powerline P2X Home Gym is $900, or you can opt for the P2X with Functional Training Arms for $1,675. With a short one-year warranty, and all the troubles with assembly, this multi-gym is over-priced and one to avoid. Unless you and a buddy are really into building erector sets, skip this model.
