The Buzz

The Nautilus NT 1800 is the perfect solution for power cage squats using a safety bar. Add a bench for bench presses and seated overhead presses. You can expand the system for a complete home gym by adding the attachments for the Smith, Lat, and Pec Deck, plus a selectorized weight stack. All together, the system will run about $3,000 if purchased separately, or about $2,400 for the Nautilus Cage/Smith System.

The Nautilus NT 1800 is a solid, well-built unit will last a lifetime. Users will appreciate the X-size safety spotters with 36 positions, as well as the convenient storage holders for plates. The cage is less than 7' tall so it should fit in any room or basement, unlike commercial racks which are usually 9' tall.

Our Take

Priced at $999, the Nautilus NT 1800 is a quality piece of equipment, albeit a bit overpriced if all you need is a squat rack. There are cheaper alternatives for building your free weight home gym since you can find a half cage for around $500. However, if you intend to build a complete Nautilus Premier Smith/Cage System, you can start with the Nautilus NT 1800 cage first and add attachments later.
