The Buzz

Trainers point out that the Gold’s Power Series GS 2500 home gym offers only the basics. Small to average size users may find this machine to be a tremendous value and it will fit very well into a small apartment. Its Pros are: the standing squat station, lat bar, and compact design. On the other hand, the Cons are: it’s noisy, has a poor range of motion, it is hard to switch to the next exercise, and a 150-lb weight stack is too limited for a user who can press quite a lot more.

Gold’s home gym users who have submitted their own reviews on the Power Series GS 2500 have mixed reactions to their machines. While some (smaller) users have had no problems with ergonomics, average to larger size users have issues with wobbliness and fit. Additionally, many users also cite the awkwardness of changing to the next set-up, and a not-very-smooth resistance feel on the cables.

Our Take

The Gold’s Gym Power Series GS 2500 home gym is an affordable model for the newbie to resistance training. Its MSRP is $499 but we’ve seen it for $399 on sale. While it has an attractive design, the quality of the workout experience isn’t what it should be. Compared to other great gyms and functional trainers we discuss on this site, this is not the one we would purchase for our money.
